Buffon: I didn't think Italy were good enough

Italy goalkeeper Gigi Buffon admits he didn't think they were good enough to reach tomorrow night's World Cup final.
"Back on May 22, I didn't really believe that we would have reached the Final," the Juventus ace stated after the disappointments of 2002 and 2004.
"I think that every footballer, no matter how convinced he is of his own ability or the strength of the team, doubts at the start that the team's capability will be enough to reach the Final.

"You always think something negative is going to happen first, even if you can say that these things have happened to us in the past."
Fortune deserted the Azzurri back in 1998 too when Buffon was part of the squad who lost on penalties to France, Sunday's opponents, in the quarter-finals.
"There is definitely less worry within the camp than there was in 1998," added the former Parma youngster.
"At that time we had to play them in their own back yard, they were eight years younger and just reaching their peak. They certainly caused us more fear back then."
