Helguera snub Bolton

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has revealed he failed in an attempt to bring Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera to the club on deadline day.
The Trotters had a bid for the 31-year-old accepted by Real, only for the defender to turn down the chance to move to The Reebok Stadium.

"It was all sorted out and in the end the player had a change of mind," Allardyce told Sky Sports News.
"It was a very close call going into the last hour or so and sadly the player declined in the end after everything was done.
"There are many things that happen and you think you are there, you sort out all the financial problems first and foremost.
"Then all of a sudden the player has a change of mind so it gets very very disappointing and of course in our past history we're used to those disappointments and we have to take them on the chin and move on."
