McClaren: Man Utd's Rooney can captain England

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney will eventually succeed John Terry as England captain, says Steve McClaren.

The new Three Lions boss bumped into Rooney last week at Manchester United's Carrington training ground.
McClaren said: "Wayne could most definitely make an England captain.
"The first thing Wayne said to me the other day before I named the squad was 'I'm the captain, who's going to be the vice-captain?' That's the confidence of the lad and that's what he brings to the table. He is a fantastic character.
"He's still very young and he wants to be the best player on the park and the best player in the world. I know that ultimately he will want to be England captain one day - and that's a possibility."
