Roma have made a formal approach to Chelsea for striker Hernan Crespo.
Roma president Franco Sensi knows Crespo wants a return to Italy and has been convinced by his World Cup form with Argentina that he is back to his best.
The stumbling block is Chelsea's asking price. The Blues want £16 million for Crespo, who would also demand to be Roma's top wage earner should they be granted permission to speak with the player.
