Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is launching a £16 million bid for Corinthians midfield ace Javier Mascherano.

The Sun says the Gunners held talks with Corinthians rep Walter Tamer after Wednesday's Champions League victory against Dinamo Zagreb.
Also present was Kia Joorabchian, the
money man behind midfielder Mascherano's move to Brazil two years ago.
Now Emirates boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to sort a £16 million deal before the transfer window closes.
Mascherano, 22, is one of the hottest players in world football after starring in all of Argentina's World Cup
games in Germany.
Manchester United have been eyeing the tough-tackling youngster for a year and see him as the man to fill the hole left by Roy Keane.
But now Wenger has been given the nod by his board to make a bid.
