Newcastle ready to raid Huth and Bridge

Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder is ready to raid Chelsea for defensive pair Robert Huth and Wayne Bridge before next Friday's transfer deadline.

The Journal says Middlesbrough remain keen on the German international and had hoped to sign him on a season's loan but that would appear to have been scuppered by Newcastle's renewed effort to sign the 22-year-old in a permanent deal.
Bridge has started the Premiership campaign as Jose Mourinho's first-choice left-back. But that will change if the Blues finally complete the signing of England full-back Ashley Cole from Arsenal and Bridge will be allowed to become the fifth ex-Chelsea star to rebuild his career in the North-East.
