Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is ready to splash out £9 million of Randy Lerner's money on Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.
The Mirror says O'Neill wants a new striker after offloading Kevin Phillips to West Brom and has identified Defoe as a leading target as the England youngster's Spurs nightmare continues.
