Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is returning to former midfield target Javier Mascherano of Corinthians.
The Sun says Ferguson could turn to the Argentine ace, with Owen Hargreaves now looking set to STAY at Bayern Munich.
Mascherano, 22, has gone missing from his Brazilian club Corinthians.
But the midfielder is likely to play for Argentina against Brazil at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Mascherano, also a target for Roma, is valued at £30million and that may deter United boss Fergie from launching an official bid.
The United boss is fed up that weeks of negotiations with Bayern over Hargreaves have failed to lead to a deal.
