Over 8,000 Valencia fans welcomed record £16.5 million signing Joaquin to the Mestalla yesterday.
The stunning reception lifted the wing ace after he left Real Betis with critical comments ringing in his ears from patron Manuel Ruiz de Lopera in the morning.
"When I decided to change the course of my professional life I knew what I could be facing," said Joaquin. "These are things that hurt me because I do not deserve them. I will always be proud of the colors of Betis, but the moment arrived to make a jump as footballer.
"Valencia has bet on me and I on Valencia. That they have paid so much inspires me to work hard and to try to do the best possible thing so that the team is among the best ones."
