Real Madrid have offered Ronaldo to Roma as part of a swap deal.
Brazilian media agency Placar says Real were willing to exchange Ronaldo in a straight swap for one from Cristian Chivu or Philippe Mexes.
Both players are in the sights of Real coach Fabio Capello, who wants a new centre-half added to his squad before the Spanish transfer deadline falls.
However, the swap was a non-starter as Ronaldo's personal demands are far too rich for Roma's strict wage cap.
