Portsmouth boss Redknapp: Sol just outstanding

Last season Blackburn finished sixth and ensured a place in European competition.
Perhaps more importantly they went some way to answering their critics who had them down as a physical team who intimidated opponents with tactics that stretched the laws of the game.

This comprehensive defeat by Portsmouth again gives their critics plenty of ammunition as Rovers ended the game with nine men.
First to go was Australian World Cup hero Lucas Neill for a second yellow
card in the 62nd minute. This was followed on the stroke of full time by Andy Todd for denying debutant Nwankwo Kanu a clear strike on goal.
It could have been worse for the Ewood Park outfit had Brad Friedel not saved Kanu's resulting penalty.
Pompey where already assured of victory courtesy of a Svetoslav Todorov strike in the first half followed by a brace from Kanu in the second period.
Boss Harry Redknapp was more than satisfied to get the campaign off to such a perfect start.
"It was a great performance - I thought we dominated from start to finish.
"One or two I was concerned about their fitness, Kanu and [Sol] Campbell haven't trained much.
"It was a juggling act but we did very well today.
"They had a little spell at the start of the second half but I'm sure they'll admit the best team won."
Redknapp also claimed there would be more arrivals at Fratton Park before the August transfer deadline.
"We've tried for our lives but we've bought in
free transfers. People had doubts over Kanu but everyone did their job," he added.
"Sol was outstanding - as strong as an ox.
"We need to improve the depth but if we do that we should have a good season."
