Chelsea boss Mourinho tells Liverpool: You can't afford to lose

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes defeat today for Liverpool in the Community Shield could rock their confidence for the new Premiership campaign.

New signings Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko are expected to play, although Claude Makelele has been given extra time to recover from the World Cup. William Gallas, who failed to join the rest of the squad in America, is now back at the club, but he will not be included. Joe Cole and Petr Cech are missing through injury.
Mourinho said: "If they [Liverpool] lose against a Chelsea side at just 50 per cent of their quality, that could affect their confidence ahead of the Premiership season."
The Chelsea manager accepts it may take some time for his squad to hit top gear, but remains confident ahead of his quest for a third straight Premiership title.
"The solution is not to be worried," he said. "We are not ready to play 90 minutes because we have not worked on certain aspects of our game. If we drop a couple of points at the start of the season it is not a bad thing - it is a very long season."
