France captain Zinedine Zidane has hit back at the critics who predicted his ageing side would not go far in Germany after helping them reach the World Cup quarter-finals.

Les Bleus came from behind to stun Spain 3-1 in Hanover, setting up a last-eight showdown with Brazil and the former Real Madrid midfielder revealed: "We have felt very disrespected after being described as too old.
"We are not old, but experienced.
"I think we have proven to everyone we still have quality despite complicating our chances after a difficult group stage."
The 34-year-old Zidane scored his team's third goal against the Spaniards.
"We had prepared very well for this game," said Zidane.
"We have imposed our collective play and the goal I scored was the icing on the cake because the most important thing is that we are through."
