Boro criticized McClaren

Middlesbrough chief Keith Lamb has had a dig at the "reckless" spending of former manager and current England boss Steve McClaren.

Lamb said: "There have been reckless signings here in the past.
"Perhaps people have been signed on reputation rather than performance."
Lamb reckons both Macca and predecessor Bryan Robson were to blame.
And he contrasted the policy with that of the club's new manager Gareth Southgate.
He added: "Gareth has been cautious about who we are signing. He wants to ensure we recruit the right people.
"Hopefully, Gareth will be more structured in his signings."
