New Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is ready to go back to Celtic for midfield pair Neil Lennon and Stilian Petrov.

The Sunday Mirror says O'Neill is believed to have spoken personally to all four of the consortia battling to take over the ailing Midlands club to make sure he'll have their backing if they succeed.
He sees Petrov, at the peak of his playing days at the age of 27 and with 50 caps, as being ready to step up from Scotland to regular Premiership football.
And he'll also plead with Gordon Strachan to allow him to sign 35-year-old Lennon for the third time to inject some leadership and passion into Villa's young squad.
