Melchiot makes Rennes move

Rennes have signed former Birmingham defender Mario Melchiot on a free transfer.
Melchiot has signed a one-year deal with the Ligue 1 outfit.
The Dutchman left Birmingham at the end of the season after seeing out his contract at St Andrews.
A number of clubs expressed an interest in signing Melchiot, but Rennes have won the race for his signature.
Melchiot is expected to make his debut this weekend in the league opener with Lille.
