Man Utd boss Ferguson: We wanted Vieira
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits they were priced out of a deal for new Inter Milan signing Patrick Vieira.
Fergie wanted the former Arsenal star and the £6.5m fee was not a problem.
But the stumbling block was the four-year contract worth around £15m for a 30-year-old player, who yesterday joined Inter Milan from Juventus.
Ferguson said: "Vieira was someone we considered. But he accepted a really good deal from Inter - so that was the end of it."
United are still pursuing Villarreal's Marcus Senna.
