Newcastle United hope to land Empoli striker Francesco Tavano for 7 million.

Toon boss Glenn Roeder is desperate for front-men after losing Michael Owen to injury for at least the first five months of the season.
Now he is trying to thrash out a £7million deal with Empoli for their 27-year-old hitman, says The Sun.
Tavano's agent, Stefano Guercini, admitted: "I can confirm there is a meeting about Francesco planned between Newcastle and Empoli."
The Serie A minnows are looking to cash in on their star striker, who scored 19 league goals last season.
They have already rejected offers from Spanish side Valencia and Ukrainians Shakhtar Donetsk and are holding out for £8.5m.
But Newcastle are confident they can clinch a £7m transfer after Empoli missed out on a place in Europe.
