Chelsea to hit Gallas with fine
Chelsea are ready to hit William Gallas with an £80,000 fine for his no-show this week for their preseason camp in LA.
They have also given his No 13 shirt to new arrival Michael Ballack following his free transfer from Bayern Munich.
Chelsea are ready to keep Gallas in the cold for the entire season by refusing to cash in on the year left on his contract.
And they have stopped selling Gallas shirts as official club merchandise.
Manager Jose Mourinho has snubbed the defender's request for extra time off to be with his family after he played for France in the World Cup final.
Mourinho told Gallas the same rules applied for him as they did to everyone else and told him to report to the club's hotel in Beverly Hills on Monday.
He said: "Of course leaving our wives and families behind in England is difficult - but that's normal."
Gallas spoke with the club last week but was told the trip to America was as much about team bonding as it was getting fit and he must fly out.
A club spokesman said: "William Gallas will not be joining up with Chelsea FC on the pre-season tour of the United States.
"Gallas was due to join the team with the other Chelsea players who participated in the World Cup semi-finals and final.
"William requested extra time off following the World Cup but was informed he should still report on the date previously agreed with him.
"He did not report and further action will now be considered by the club.
"Pre-season training and the tour is about building team spirit among our squad and extra leave is only granted for valid football-related reasons."
