Tottenham boss to offer £7.5M for Middlesbrough's Downing

Tottenham boss Martin Jol is launching a £7.5 million bid for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing.
The Mirror says Jol is looking for a left-sided midfielder and believes Middlesbrough and England star Downing, 21, fits the bill.
Jol, who has spent more than £20m on Dimitar Berbatov and Didier Zokora this summer, failed to sign Downing in January. But Jol is confident he can lure the highly-rated youngster from Boro now Steve McClaren has left for England.
