Brazil medical chiefs insist there's no rift with Real Madrid over the fitness of Ronaldo.
Brazil team doctor Jose Luiz Runco has denied a row with Real after his decision to allow the striker to go under the knife.

Runco took the decision to operate on Ronaldo despite comments from Madrid's new president Ramon Calderon that the striker only required rest.

"We never had problems with Madrid," Runco told Lance! no Ar radio. "However, we have talked a lot of times with Real Madrid's medical department about it.

"Real Madrid knew about the surgery on Ronaldo's left leg and they understood the problem of the player. As well as that, a doctor from Real will arrive in Rio de Janeiro and will participate in the surgery.

"His recovery will be quick," Runco added.

Ronaldo is expected to be back in action next month for Madrid's final pre-season matches.
