Manchester United defensive pair John O'Shea and Wes Brown are being used in negotiations with Bayern Munich over a deal for midfielder Owen Hargreaves.
The Daily Star says United are willing to include O'Shea and Brown in their bid for England international Hargreaves.
Bayern have insisted Hargreaves is not for sale, but it's understood their stand is softening over the prospect of grabbing the two United stars as part of the deal.
Hargreaves' arrival would see O'Shea's chances of first team football reduced, while Brown has found himself on the outer due to Nemanja Vidic's excellent performances this season.
