Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed he could have signed Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele at a snip for £1.3 million.
Wenger, interviewed on French TV as part of his 10th anniversary celebrations, revealed: "I missed Claude Makelele, I missed Petr Cech. Claude, when he was with Nantes, had a release clause of £1.3million the year after Patrick Vieira arrived.
"Imagine how I feel when I see, 10 years after, the pair of them playing together in the World Cup Final."
