Don't blame Tevez and Mascherano
Yossi Benayoun insists Argentine pair Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano aren't to blame for West Ham's slump.
The unsettling nature of on-going takeover talks and suggestions the South American pair have been a disruptive influence since their high-profile deadline-day transfers continue to dog Alan Pardew's side.
However, Israeli midfielder Benayoun declared: "It is wrong to put the blame on them.
"We have got two very good players.
"I speak with them every day and they are like everybody - they want that first win and then we can start to look at the positives."
Benayoun told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme: "Things are just not going right as a team, you cannot say individually anyone is not playing well because the [whole of the] team are not playing well.
"However, even though we lost yesterday at Portsmouth, we are improving and hopefully we will win the next game and go to a better way.
"It has been difficult for us as a club, but we believe in ourselves that things will change soon.
"We just need one thing to spark everybody.
"I really do not think there is anything to worry about and I am sure we will soon be in the top half of the table."
Pardew admits he fears for his job given the current circumstances, but Benayoun backed the Hammers boss.
He said: "Alan brought us to where we are, and last season was great.
"It will come soon, and we just need the first win, then we will be a good team like last season again."
