Roeder hold no grudges against Allardyce

Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder insists he has no problems with Bolton counterpart Sam Allardyce.

The Bolton Wanderers boss was one of the leading opponents when United tried to appoint Roeder despite the Londoner not having the required Fifa Pro Licence coaching qualification.
Having successfully overcome the opposition with the support of the Premier League chairmen, Roeder is in no mood to dwell on the issue when he takes on Allardyce's Trotters for the first time since he was given the job in May.
"He was at The Match (at St James's Park) on Sunday and I spoke to him then," Roeder said when asked the
state of his relationship with the Bolton manager. "There's no problem between us.
"We are absolutely fine. He will keep speaking his mind - and so will I."
Roeder defended Allardyce's right to express his opinion and is adamant he took no notice of the welter of criticism from the League Managers' Association to his controversial appointment.
"I paid no attention to that," he said. "I always believed we are in a democracy and thankfully we are allowed to speak our own mind.
"I speak my own mind, he does as well. I didn't
pay any heed to it.
"It didn't bother me in the slightest. I had a good chat (with Allardyce) on Sunday for 15 minutes, we spoke about his European experiences last season.
"100% it didn't bother me. I know I am very much my own person.
"As long as I can speak my mind when I want to that's fine. I had too many other things to think about. It is only an opinion."
