The Sun says Ferguson is hoping to boost his squad by snapping up Inter Milan striker Adriano for £25million.
Fergie has turned his attentions to the Brazil star after losing patience in trying to tempt Spanish sensation Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid.
Adriano, 24, is unsettled at the San Siro following the arrival of Hernan Crespo from Chelsea earlier this week.
