Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has declared David Beckham has signed a new two-year contract extension.
The deal, through to 2009, effectively keeps Beckham in Madrid for the rest of his career. Calderon also revealed that Ronaldo had pledged his future to Real after yesterday's 0-0 draw with Villarreal.
"The deal with Beckham is due to his sporting performance," said Calderon last night. "The marketing subjects are important, but at this Real Madrid we prioritize the sporting aspects and the technical team have given its approval to the renewal of Beckham's contract."
Calderon also revealed he had had a brief meeting with Ronaldo and added: "He told me he wants to stay. He's excited. He's lost
weight and wants to continue with us."
