Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has joined Marseille on a season-long loan deal with view to a permanent move, the French club have confirmed.
The 24-year-old forward was called up by coach Raymond Domenech to take part to the World Cup in Germany but was forced to stay at home after breaking his right leg during France's 3-1 win in a friendly against China on June 7.
He is not likely to resume playing until October but that has not put off Marseille, who are long-time admirers of the player.
"My choice has always been Marseille," Cisse said after agreeing the switch.
