Barcelona clinch £14M deal for Zambrotta, Thuram

Barcelona confirmed the double signing of Juventus pair Gianluca Zambrotta and Lilian Thuram last night.
The announcement wasn't made until 10pm after Thuram asked for more time to study the two-year contract Barca drew up for him in the afternoon.
The French veteran, 34, joins Barca for £3.5 million, while Zambrotta, who signed a four-year contract yesterday, was valued at £10.5 million in the £14 million deal.
Both players were forced to alter their holiday arrangements to be available for the Barca move. Their new employers have since agreed that neither player needs to report for training until their USA tour on August 4.
However, they could be called to Spain next week for a presentation ceremony.
Barca striker Santi Ezquerro said today: "They are both very good players and I believe that they will contribute positive things to the team. The competition they bring will be very good for everyone."
