Newcastle United are closing in on Fulham midfielder Steed Malbranque.

Malbranque has spoken with new Toon coach Lee Clark about his reservations of moving north.
They played together at Fulham for four years and the Toon midfielder is persuading him to move to St James' Park.
Playmaker Malbranque, 26, is being courted by West Ham, Liverpool and Everton after turning down Fulham's offer of nearly £50,000 a week.
A Toon source told the People: "Clarky's done a good job, but Newcastle don't want to pay more than £3.5m for him while Fulham want more like £5m."
