Chelsea to include Drogba in bid for Atletico Madrid's Torres

Chelsea hope to blow Manchester United out of the water in their battle for Atletico Madrid captain Fernando Torres.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich, fearful of seeing Torres join a revitalised United alongside Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, is ready to top any bid that comes from Sir Alex Ferguson's club.
To sweeten the deal further, Abramovich will offer Didier Drogba in part-exchange, with the Ivory Coast international sure to become surplus to requirements should Torres agree a move to Stamford Bridge.
United have already discussed a move to Old Trafford with Torres' representatives and the player has told Spain teammates he expects to move to Manchester after the World Cup.
However, the pull of Chelsea - and Abramovich's chequebook - is sure to make the youngster think again.
For now, Atletico have not received a formal offer from either club since the end of last season. But the Spanish giants expect things to accelerate once the World Cup is over.
