Morfeo blast teammates to show some balls
Siena stormed back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Parma on Saturday.
When Domenico Morfeo's opener and a second-half goal from Igor Budan put Parma in the driving seat it looked as though the modest outfit from Tuscany was heading for what would have been only its second defeat of the season.
But Albanian striker Erjon Bogdani proved the hero for Mario Beretta's team, first pulling one back with 13 minutes to play and then sealing the comeback with a last-gasp equaliser.
The result ensures Siena consolidate their fourth place in the division and they would be even better off were it not for a point deduction imposed on the club last month for missing a tax deadline.
Morfeo blasted his teammates at the final whistle for letting their lead slip.
"If we want to survive in Serie A, we've got to play with b..lls," snapped Morfeo. "Otherwise we'll go straight to Serie B this way."
"We didn't stay concentrated until the 90th minute," admitted Coach Stefano Pioli. "After a difficult start, we took control of the game and deserved victory, but at the end we lost our focus."
The Gialloblu now have the worst defence in the League, conceding 20 goals in 10 rounds, and remain in the danger zone.
Siena, on the other hand, are in fourth place with 16 points and confidence is boosted by their comeback.
"We showed great character in the final half-hour," noted Coach Mario Beretta. "It was an inconsistent performance, with some very good moments and a few terrible ones. It certainly wasn't our best game of the season."
Tuscan President Paolo De Luca confirmed he wants Siena to aim for a UEFA Cup spot this term and Beretta did his best to comply.
"The President always has such enthusiasm and passes some of it down to us, but our objective is to take it one game at a time.
