Man Utd confident of landing Hargreaves
Manchester United are confident of closing a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves.
The Times says United are optimistic that, with the player's determination, an agreement can be reached when talks with the German club resume in the winter market.
Hargreaves, valued at about £20 million by Bayern, is making such rapid progress from a broken leg suffered last month that he has targeted a November 11 return and inclusion in the England squad for the friendly against Holland four days later.
United are continuing to monitor the 25-year-old's recovery and hope to knock Bayern down to a selling price of about £17 million.
"Owen is in very good spirits and looking forward to playing again," Roman Grill, the player's agent, told The Times last night. "The injury came about at a bad time, but Owen has always been upbeat. The plaster cast is off and he hopes to be walking around properly in the next two or three days."
