Barca keen to land Lampard
Barcelona are putting together concrete plans to bid for Chelsea midfield ace Frank Lampard.
The Mirror says Barca plan to use Chelsea's failure to conclude a new long-term deal with Lampard to land the England man for a cut-price ?10million.
Lamps wants to be on a par with big earners Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack, who are both on £130,000-a-week.
If Chelsea do not come up with a better package, then Lampard, whose fiancee Elen comes from Barcelona, could use FIFA's new contract rules to leave for a fee of around £4.5 million, effectively buying up the final year of his current deal.
A Barcelona source said: "Rijkaard told the board he wants a leader in midfield and that Lampard is the one who fits the bill."
