Valencia sports chief Amadeo Carboni has made his breakthrough in the market in the form of Empoli striker Francesco Tavano.

Carboni has struggled to find a new striker for coach Quique Flores, failing in talks for Espanyol's Luis Garcia and Inter Milan star Obafemi Martins.
But the capture of Tavano is a coup for Los Che, which will pay £6 million for the Italian. Tavano has agreed terms on a four-year contract worth £500,000-a-season.
The deal was struck last night, with Empoli confirming Tavano's sale on their website.
"I had hoped to stay in Italy," Tavano said this morning. "But I am making a jump to a huge club and I'm very excited about this move."
