Man Utd offer O'Shea in deal for Tottenham's Carrick

Manchester United chief David Gill cut short his trip to South Africa to return to England and finalise the transfer of Michael Carrick from Tottenham.

The People says United should be able to unveil former West Ham star Carrick in the next week or so.
Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to sanction a £12m fee for the England midfielder ... and is prepared to throw in John O'Shea as well. Tottenham have been trying to resist United's move for Carrick but know they are fighting a losing battle.
Spurs boss Martin Jol is understood to have responded to the offer of O'Shea by demanding Wes Brown instead.
But while the two clubs cannot agree on the player to be included in the package, it now seems they are not that far apart in agreeing the Carrick move.
