Benfica's Simao pulls out of Valencia move
Valencia's bid for Benfica winger Simao Sabrosa has collapsed.
The two clubs had struck an agreement over a £10 million cash fee for the Portugal international and he was expected to be unveiled today at the Mestalla.
But Simao hopped on a plane back to Lisbon last night after Valencia refused to match his &pounbd;1.4 million-a-year contract demands. Los Che are reluctant to go higher than £1 million-a-year.
"There are always possibilities of returning to speak and to negotiate," insisted Simao this morning.
Valencia president Juan Soler refuses to give up on Simao and is planning more negotiations today. He has made the player a priority signing before the summer transfer window closes.
