Barca launch £25 million Lampard bid
Barcelona are to launch a £25 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.
The Sunday Mirror says next June the 28-year-old will have two years left on his current deal but talks have already opened between club chief executive Peter Kenyon and Lampard's advisors.
Barcelona president Juan Laporta feels Lampard, whose fiancee is Spanish, will fit perfectly into the demands of La Liga and was duly impressed on Tuesday at the Nou Camp. Not only did Lampard show he was back to his dynamic best, he crowned his display with an exquisite goal as Chelsea drew 2-2.
Lampard has made it clear that he would prefer to spend the rest of his career at Stamford Bridge. He'd be delighted if agreement can be reached with the club on a three-year extension to his present deal - and that would effectively grant him his wish of giving the best years of his career to Chelsea.
