Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton bared all to Everton fans on Saturday because mates told him to!
Barton is feeling slightly foolish after being caught on camera, with Match of the Day showing his double embarrassment at the end of the game.
However, a close friend of Barton explained to the Mirror last night: "Joey went over to give his top to a disabled fan and was looking at the Everton supporters who had been giving him stick.
"But when he saw a couple of friendly faces - guys he knows from where he lives - he winked and smiled at them.
"Then one of them shouted 'show us your arse' and Joey did. He regrets it now, but it was a joke not an insult."
Barton is likely to escape police prosecution for his actions. But the Scouse midfielder, no stranger to controversy, will be hauled over the coals by City manager Stuart Pearce and hit with a massive FA punishment.
