Ballack almost join Barca
The agent of Michael Ballack made a last-ditch attempt to place the German at Barcelona in the Spring, it has been revealed.
DiarioSport says before agreeing a deal with Chelsea, Michael Becker made contact with Sandro Rosell in an attempt to revive a dream move to the Nou Camp for his client.
But Rosell informed Becker at the time that he was no longer a member of Barca's board, having left his position some months earlier. It was two years ago when Ballack entertained Rosell in Munich with a BBQ at his luxury villa - and reportedly wore a Barcelona cap. Rosell and Ballack twice met over that time to discuss a potential move to the Nou Camp.
In the end, Becker agreed a mega deal, believed to be worth £130,000-a-week, with Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon.
