Redknapp blasted Mido

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has blasted Tottenham's Mido after the Egyptian described Sol Campbell as a soft touch.
Mido said: "Portsmouth is a really important game for us. But they have Sol Campbell at the back and he is the easiest defender I have ever played against. I am not scared of him."

Redknapp signed Campbell from Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer in the face of stiff competition from home and abroad.
And the former England defender, 32, has been outstanding in Pompey's superb start to the season, which has seen them concede just one goal in six league games.
Redknapp blasted: "What an arrogant thing to say.
"It's an insult coming from somebody who has not achieved as much as Sol has in his career.
"It shows a total lack of respect and those comments will embarrass every footballer in the game as we don't talk like that about fellow pros.
"I'm sure his manager at Tottenham will also be embarrassed when he reads those remarks as it shows Mido has no real feeling for the game over here.
"One thing is for certain, I won't have to say too much to my lads in the dressing room at Tottenham.
"I'll just stick a newspaper cutting up on the wall and that will do for me."
Mido has yet to hit the target for Spurs this season but will start against Pompey in the absence of injured Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov.
The Egyptian ace added: "I came to Tottenham because I know I can score goals for the team - but I have only been back here for four games.
"I have never had any doubts that I would come back here and score. I am disappointed with some of the chances I have missed but I am still confident."

Saha promise to show the real him

Louis Saha believes he's nearing his best form for Manchester United after a relatively injury-free start to the season.

Saha faces Newcastle tomorrow hot on the heels of a fine Champions League winner against Benfica in Lisbon on Tuesday.
And the 28-year-old said: "I believe I am showing people the real Louis Saha now.
"I am playing with consistency, confidence and without injury - and that is showing in my goals.
"I always felt I could go on a run like this if I could just get over my injury problems.
"If I stay fit, I will continue to score - I'm convinced of that - and help United win things."
Saha notched 53 goals in 117 league games for Fulham before Alex Ferguson signed him in 2004.
But it was only in the second half of last season that Saha started to shine, scoring 14 times in his final 16 games.
It was enough to convince Fergie he could dump Ruud van Nistelrooy and rely on Saha.
But Saha said: "I do not see myself as another Ruud.
"He was a great player for us and got a lot of goals. I'm a different person and a different player but one thing I aim to do is score a lot.
"I believe I am now more composed in front of goal than I used to be and that has helped things to go my way."
There are two big reasons why the France star believes the goals and chances will keep flowing. He said: "When you are playing alongside Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo you are always going to get chances.
"You know something is going to happen because those two can do magic things."
There have been signs this season that Ferguson's blend of youth and experience is coming together.
Saha said: "We are getting stronger all the time. There are players with a great hunger to succeed and we are developing and improving.
"It is a new team and I am glad to be part of it."

Mikel not scared of Mourinho

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel admits he's had a blow-up with manager Jose Mourinho, but insists the Portuguese isn't scary.

The Nigerian teenager made his full Chelsea debut in Sofia on Wednesday and with Michael Ballack suspended is set to feature against Aston Villa this afternoon.
Mikel, who cost the Blues an estimated £12m compensation payment to Manchester United in the summer, has been given a few warnings already over the professional standards he must maintain to find favour with the Portuguese boss.
The midfielder said: "Jose Mourinho is a very demanding manager. He wants 100 per cent and when you don't give him that he's very disappointed with you.
"He just doesn't want mistakes and we can't afford to make mistakes. But I don't think he's scary!
"I knew it would be difficult being a young kid coming into a big club like this.
"I had to go to big players like Shevchenko, Ballack and Lampard and introduce myself.
"But I don't get carried away by all the hype around me.
"I know it will take time to get used to the Premiership. I keep my feet on the ground by working hard and practising."

Rooney goes for extra training

Out-of-sorts Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is hoping some extra training will help trigger a revival in form.

The Old Trafford camp remain squarely behind the £27million former Everton star, with assistant-manager Carlos Queiroz restating the unanimous verdict Rooney will soon be back to his best.
Queiroz revealed Rooney did some additional work at United's Carrington training complex in the hope of aiding his progress.
"Wayne finished training then stayed a while working alone because he knows he needs to do something," said Queiroz.
"It is good he is conscious of making mistakes. It just means he comes in every day with a bigger and better desire to work more and more.
"Wayne has reached such a level in the past and the demands he puts on himself are so big, he does not have the right to be young when he performs.
"But, game by game, it will start to come right. The motivation and confidence will build up and I am sure he will be better against Newcastle."

Parker in England squad

Newcastle captain Scott Parker has been recalled to the England squad after a two-and-a-half year absence.
Parker replaces the injured Owen Hargreaves in Steve McClaren's 24-man squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Macedonia and Croatia.
Striker Wayne Rooney is available again after suspension so Darren Bent drops down to the Under-21 squad.

Ledley King also returns, but Tottenham team-mate Michael Dawson and Charlton's Luke Young miss out.
England boss Steve McClaren said: "Scott is having a very good run at Newcastle, he's playing well and he is a leader.
"He is a player who epitomises what we are all about - team ethic and a winning attitude.
"I spoke to Scott today. He was thrilled and delighted to have the opportunity. I'm looking forward to meeting up with him and the rest of the squad on Tuesday for two very big games for England."

Super agent fears nothing

Israeli 'super agent' Pini Zahavi insists he has nothing to fear from a FIFA investigation over the Ashley Cole tapping-up affair.

FIFA are set to re-open a file on Zahavi's role in the controversy now the Football Association have dealt with Cole's agent Jonathan Barnett.
Zahavi told The Daily Telegraph: "If anyone wants to ask me questions about this I am more than happy and ready to answer them. I will co-operate because I don't think that I am guilty of any wrongdoing.
"What's more, at that time, I did not represent Chelsea or Ashley Cole."
That may be strictly true but Zahavi has acted as a 'fixer' for many of Chelsea's signings since Roman Abramovich took over.
Zahavi was present at the infamous meeting in London's Royal Park Hotel back in January 2005, along with Cole, Barnett, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and club chief executive Peter Kenyon.

Cocky Guti confident 3-0 win

Cocky Real Madrid ace Guti has declared they'll thump Atletico "3-0" in Sunday's Madrid derby.
"We are going to win 3-0 with goals of Van Nistelrooy, Raul and Reyes," declared Guti, who was actually linked with Atletico in the summer.
He also said: "This summer there was nothing serious with Atletico. My intention was to continue Real Madrid and if I had to leave, I would have gone abroad."

Nike give Ronaldinho 10R

Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho is set to launch his own clothing label in November.
In partnership with sponsor Nike, Ronaldinho has been working on a collection, which includes t-shirts, trousers and hair-bands. DiarioSport says the label will be known as '10R' and Nike want to push Ronaldinho in the same vein as Michael Jordan was through the 1980s.
Ronaldinho is excited about the line, with the launch promising to be a world-wide spectacular.

Moratti want Benitez

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is being linked with Roberto Mancini's job at Inter Milan.
Spanish daily Sport says Inter patron Massimo Moratti has Benitez's name at the top of his shortlist as he considers a replacement for Mancini after an inconsistent start to the season.
Benitez has two years left on his current contract and money would be no object for Moratti should Liverpool grant him permission to speak with the Spaniard.
Along with Benitez, Sven Goran Eriksson, Hector Cuper and Claudio Ranieri are also under consideration by Moratti.
It's reported the next three games will make or break Mancini's career at Inter.

Juve fly in for Robinho talk

Juventus have approached Real Madrid for wing ace Robinho.
It's been revealed the Brazil international would have moved to Juve last summer if the fallen Turin giants had not been demoted from Serie A.
Tuttosport says a deal for next June is already on the table and fresh negotiations have opened between the two clubs in recent days.

Drogba praised by teammates

Chelsea teammates are delighted for Didier Drogba after his sensational hat-trick at Levski Sofia this week.
Drogba, 28, became the first Blues player to hit a Champions League hat-trick in Wednesday's 3-1 triumph at Levski Sofia.

And the £24 million Ivory Coast international is currently enjoying the form of his life.
He has now bagged seven goals in eight games this term and is terrorising defenders with his power and aggression.
Team-mate Frank Lampard said: "Didier is doing everything a striker needs to do. He's powerful, good in the air, has two good feet, scoring goals, holding the ball up and leading the line.
"When he's at his best, that's what he brings to the team. He's so strong and quick and his confidence is so high at the moment he can't stop scoring.
"It's great when you see a striker in that mode because balls just seem to drop to him and he puts them away."
Blues enforcer Michael Essien added: "Didier is playing so well this season and as a midfield player it is great when you have a striker in that sort of form.
"Every time you get the ball up to him, you know he will cause problems for the opposition."
Drogba's heroics in Bulgaria came at the sharp end of a muscular performance from a powerful Chelsea team who are taking athletic ability to new levels.
Lampard said: "We've got a lot of big players and you have to be physical at times.
"Away in Europe you have to be strong through the middle and we're certainly that with Michael Ballack, Michael Essien and Jon Obi Mikel. We've also got two up front full of running, JT at the back and Petr Cech in goal. Physically, we can hold our own with anyone."

Eto'o out for 3 months

Barcelona star Samuel Eto'o is facing at least three months on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury in last night's 1-1 draw at Werder Bremen.

Barca doctors say Eto'o is facing a three-month lay-off on initial findings, however a scan at 4:00pm this afternoon will give a clearer assessment to the extent of the damage.
Eto'o was upbeat last night, leaving the stadium on crutches and shouting to journalists: "I'm leaving for Sam Mames to see my Uncle!"
Barca coach Frank Rijkaard said afterwards: "I hope that the injury of Samuel (Etoo) is not too serious. I still do not know what happened to him.
"The point is important, given the circumstances. Last season it was not easy to win here, either. We had to suffer, so in the end we can be satisfied with the draw."

Raul slam at snipers

Real Madrid captain Raul has hit back at the snipers after a superb performance against Dynamo Kiev in midweek.

Full of confidence after his two goals, Raul rapped: "I'm used to the criticism. This is Real Madrid. Everything has great importance. I believe that I have experienced more good things than bad.
"In the last months I have only trained and I have not commented on things. I have used all my energy in training to be in the best condition. It seemed that at 29, I had nothing else to do in football. Some wanted me to retire. I have noticed a lack of politeness and respect. But I have a lot more football ahead of me.
"At club level in the last years things have not gone well. There have been many changes and I have undergone much. I wanted to be at the best level and I could not do so because of the many things that have happened at the club.
"But nobody can doubt my commitment to this club."

Ambrosini hit out at Kaka

AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has hit out at teammate Kaka over his criticism of coach Carlo Ancelotti's tactics for Tuesday night's 0-0 draw at Lille.
"Ancelotti, with this formation, has helped us win the Champions League," said Ambrosini. "Perhaps Kaka does not remember it because he was not here, but for me, personally, the Christmas tree appeals a lot.
"And the draw against Lille is not a major setback."

Drogba the top drog

Didier Drogba struck a superb hat-trick as Chelsea cruised to an easy 3-1 win at Levski Sofia tonight.
The 28-year-old Ivory Coast striker preferred to focus on the fact the Blues had claimed a first victory on their Champions League travels for more than 10 months.
Drogba told Sky Sports: "We took the three points even though we conceded the goal at the end. The most important was the result, taking three points away from home.
"Okay, I scored three goals and I am very happy but the most important thing in the Champions League is to win away."
He did, though, admit he enjoyed the hat-trick, saying: "It means a lot because I was looking for it since I am here so I am very happy."
Drogba and Michael Ballack both hit the woodwork before the striker put the Blues ahead in the first half.

Drogba hit an unstoppable half-volley after goalkeeper Georgi Petkov produced a fine save following John Obi Mikel's powerful shot.
Drogba then claimed his second in the 52nd minute when his shot squeezed under the goalkeeper after he controlled a long ball over the top and turning his defender.
The third goal came in the 68th minute when he backheeled Frank Lampard's shot into the net before the Bulgarians pulled one back just before the end.
The Stamford Bridge side take on Barcelona in their next Champions League matches with Chelsea heading the group following the Spaniards' draw with Werder Bremen but he denied Chelsea had as yet turned their attention to those matches.
"It is not that crucial to think about Barcelona," said Drogba.
"We should enjoy the result and (we need) to think about Villa on Saturday we have to recover and think about Villa.
"I feel comfortable on the pitch and I just want to enjoy and to play."
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had mixed feelings despite picking up his second consecutive victory in the team's opening two Champions League games.
"It is (a) very important (result). I knew it was not an easy game especially at the beginning," Mourinho told Sky Sports.
"The atmosphere very warm and they played with a lot of motivation and I knew it was going to be very difficult.
"When we were two and 3-0 up we have to keep better control of the game. In the last part of the game we did not play very well.
"So I am just a little disappointed because we didn't control the last bit."
Mourinho also refused to read too much into Chelsea's place at the top of Group A, insisting the Blues did not have the upper hand.
"It means the group is very strong," he added. "Normally when you have Barcelona and Chelsea in the same group at this moment it should be six (points) and six (points).
"We have six points, we have to do about 10 or 11.
"We have to go to Barcelona and Bremen, two difficult matches. We are not playing super football, still some players with room to improve but still we are okay."
On Drogba's hat-trick, Mourinho said: "He has scored goals in England, scored in Europe and playing very well so it is a beautiful moment for him."

Crouch celebrate best goals

Peter Crouch struck twice as Liverpool edged a five-goal thriller against Galatasaray tonight.
The 6ft 7in striker celebrated his recall to the starting line-up by opening the scoring before Luis Garcia doubled the home side's advantage inside 15 minutes.

Crouch's spectacular scissors kick made it 3-0 after half time and, although Galatasaray substitute Umit Karan set the nerves jangling with a quickfire double, the England striker's amazing goal proved decisive.
"It was great. It's nice to get a goal like that. It was obviously a special one," Crouch told Sky Sports 2.
Asked if it was his best goal for the club, he said: "Yes I would say so - you don't get too many of those. Most of the time they go over the stand and thankfully that one went in the corner and it's got us the win, so it's great."
The striker was quick to praise the supply line that set up his twin strikes, a brilliant Fabio Aurelio cross laying on his first and Steve Finnan also finding him for his second.
"I think everyone knows I thrive on that," Crouch said. "It was a superb cross from Fabio."
Crouch admitted Liverpool were holding on for the final half-hour as Galatasaray went all out attack in search of an equaliser.
"It shouldn't have been that nervy," he said. "It was a confident 3-0 and we just wanted to see the game out.
"They're dangerous sides in the Champions League if you step back and allow teams to come on to you.
"We worked so hard in the first half maybe it caused a lapse in the second half."
Crouch will hope he has done enough to keep his place in the side for Saturday's Barclays Premiership trip to Bolton and bears no grudge about sitting on the bench in recent matches.
He said: "The boys have been doing well, the boys who've been playing, and you've got to expect to be on the bench every now and again with the quality we've got."
Manager Rafael Benitez acknowledged his side survived a severe examination late on after Galatasaray went for broke.
He said: "After we conceded the goal, we were under pressure all the time. We couldn't score the winning goal - the fourth goal - and we were under pressure.
"I think that they knew the game was over, was finished, and they decided to play with two strikers - going forward all the time.
"You need to play quick counter-attack and finish the game.
"I think at 2-0 we were controlling the game, we were creating chances and my idea was we would see what happens in the second half.
"We started with the third goal and you think, okay, it's finished.
"But, as I said before, if you concede, it's a big problem."
Benitez pinpointed the quality of crossing in the game as a strength going forward for his side but a weakness at the other end.
"First half was fantastic and the goal of Crouchy was amazing. We had these crosses and these goals, but after, we had the same problems.
"Sometime when you go too high, you leave space. It was an open game and some managers don't like open games, especially when you are winning 3-0.
"We were going forward and also they were going forward.
"I was worried at the end. I had confidence at 3-0 for sure, but I was worried at the end.
"We were losing a lot of second balls."
However, Benitez was ultimately happy with the victory, saying: "I said to players the most important thing was three points.
"It was more difficult than we were expecting at the end but we have three points and are at the top of the group."

Amoroso slam Tevez

New Corinthians signing Marcio Amoroso has slammed the man he effectively replaced, West Ham striker Carlos Tevez.
Amoroso, who joined Corinthians from AC Milan, steamed into the Argentine in a press conference yesterday: "Tevez was unpleasant to everyone because he believed he was far better than the other players.
"I cannot fault his technical qualities as often he has been decisive for Corinthians. But the problems with coach Leao came from the fact he liked to treat everyone equally. With players believing they're above others, a good squad cannot be built."

Proud Ruud

Ruud van Nistelrooy described yesterday as "spectacular" after scoring twice in Real Madrid's 5-1 thumping of Dynamo Moscow and also seeing the birth of his daughter.
"It was a spectacular day because I have had a girl (Moa) and I have been unable to sleep all night, but I am very happy by how things have gone," said Van Nistelrooy.
"I can't believe everything that has happened to me in the last hours. After being at the birth, I have rushed to join my teammates. The victory is important, although we still have four games left and need to continue winning.
"That Ronaldo returns to the team is very good for all because he is excellent."

Juven paying £100,000 a man

Juventus are on a cool £100,000-a-man to clinch direct promotion from Serie B this season.
Juve president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli and executive director Jean-Claude Blanc have given the bonus scheme the green light this week.
Should Juve reach Serie A via the promotion playoffs, the players' bonus will be halved to £50,000.

Waterreus Magpies in between the post

Former Rangers goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus is set to join Newcastle on a short-term deal until January as cover for Shay Given, who is out for at least six weeks after surgery on a ruptured bowel.
The 36-year-old Dutchman, who is a free agent after leaving Ibrox in the summer, is expected to be on the bench for Sunday's Premiership trip to Manchester United.
Ex-Celtic and Coventry keeper Magnus Hedman, 33, turned down an offer to come out of retirement.

Benitez wish a consistent Garcia

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez admits Luis Garcia's inconsistency is working against him.
Ahead of tonight's match against Galatasaray, Benitez said: "Luis is a very clever player and can do so many different things. Sometimes he does give the ball away a little too easily - but a lot of his moves do come off, especially at home.

"Remember, he has scored a lot of very important goals for us in Europe and always gets 10 to 15 in total a season.
"The other day against Tottenham it was really tough and myself, Alex Miller and Paco Ayesteran were talking about changing something.
"All three of us said Luis was the option - and he was.
"I know him from Tenerife and one year there he got 16 goals from the left wing. He's also played on the right or as a second striker at the academy in Barcelona.
"It's difficult to know the best position for him because he can play three or four very well.
"He is very important for us at Anfield, when we tend to play at a higher tempo. He has a very important role to play here.
"Sometimes I've had to tell him to do the simple things more. But closer to their box I like to see him trying these things.
"It is more frustrating when a player can do nothing, rather than one who works hard and can produce something."
Garcia, 28, arrived from Barcelona for ?6million two years ago and has been a bigger victim than most of Benitez's much-hyped rotation policy.
Yet if ever he needs reassurance about his part in the manager's plans, he recalls the role former Kop favourite Vladimir Smicer played in their Champions League-winning season.
Smicer hardly played that campaign yet still managed to hit one of the three goals which led to that famous victory over AC Milan in Istanbul.
Garcia admitted: "Of course, when you are not playing you do start to worry and wonder if the manager is thinking of other players.
"But you must remember the season is very, very long.
"Look at Smicer - he was not playing much but then he scored in the final, which made him really important. Things can change in one week."
Galatasaray may not have the reputation of a few years ago but Benitez still expects a battle royal at Anfield.
And he is looking more at five goals in Liverpool's last two Premiership games than their European blanks.
He added: "I try to be positive and we are scoring in England. Now I hope to see the same in the Champions League as well.
"We do have more options up front now but we need to put them under pressure because, if you give them time, they are good on the counter- attack."

Lucio slammed Chelsea

Levski Sofia midfielder Lucio Wagner has slammed Chelsea's Champions League credentials.
Ahead of tonight's match, Lucio said: "In terms of money, Chelsea can equal Barcelona but not when it comes to football. Barca are the best in the world.
"And Chelsea need to prepare their ears - it will be noisy.
"Our fans are very loud and are fanatics. There will be 40,000 there, putting the pressure on, swearing at them and shouting.
"They have won several matches for us before because they push us on the pitch."
Wagner, 30, added: "Our plan is not to come third in the group and go into the UEFA Cup. We don't want to draw with Chelsea."

Mourinho defend Sheva again

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho again defended below-par striker Andriy Shevchenko last night.
He said: "Sheva has a big problem because of the player he is. It was the same situation when everyone was criticising Frank Lampard.

"If you are a Mickey Mouse player, no one complains because every weekend you are nothing. But if you are a big player and have a bit of a grey moment then everyone talks about it.
"If a top keeper lets one rabbit slip through his legs it's a scandal. If it's a bad keeper people just say 'he's done it again'.
"The problem is Sheva's quality. But we are winning without his goals so imagine what we will be like when he starts scoring."
Mourinho also declared he'll play John Terry against Levski Sofia, if he's fit.
Mourinho insisted: "I'm not tempted to rest JT because we need more points in the Champions League.
"We only have three points so far and we can't qualify with that. We need another seven to nine points so I will pick my best available team.
"If JT is in the right condition and is 100 per cent fit I will have no doubts about picking him."

Fergie hails super Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo produced a best afield performance to inspire Manchester United to a 1-0 win at Benfica tonight.
Twelve months after he left the same stadium in disgrace after an ill advised gesture, Ronaldo this time became Benfica's tormentor in chief as United recorded their first away win in the competition for three years.
Silencing the jeers of the home support, the 21-year-old set up Louis Saha for the visitors' winner on the hour and threatened a second throughout the latter stages as the Red Devils cemented their position at the head of Group F.
"Cristiano has been fantastic all season," said Ferguson. "He has taken a lot of criticism from the public but he has risen above it. He has not let it affect him and that shows great courage.
"He is showing a maturity which belies his age. He is only 21, but young players have to get through periods like this."
Although Ronaldo has been jeered at every Premiership away ground this season, the former Sporting Lisbon player is unlikely to face the kind of intense barracking he received at the home of what once were his fiercest rivals.
"Who he played for in the past has obviously had something to do with the reaction of the crowd tonight," said Ferguson.
"But the next time he comes to Portugal to play for his country they will probably be kissing his feet."

Ferguson also saved special praise for Saha, who now has three goals in Europe this season and is quickly ending the doubt over his ability to replace free-scoring Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy.
"Louis has everything," said Ferguson.
"He is quick and brave and gets so many assists.
"When he puts all parts of his game together he is an excellent player and now he is on a great goal-scoring run as well."
Although they were unconvincing for long periods, United's victory has put them in pole position to advance into the knockout phase.
Ferguson's men now have a five-point cushion over tonight's opponents and FC Copenhagen, who visit Old Trafford in three weeks knowing they need a victory to put pressure on the Red Devils.
"Copenhagen need to win, so they will have to come out and play against us," said Ferguson.
"Benfica now have to play Celtic twice as well and while we do not know what will happen there we know we can put ourselves in a great position if we keep our concentration and defend properly."
The only downside of the victory for United was the failure of Wayne Rooney to end a barren streak in Europe that now extends to 11 games.
In fairness, the 20-year-old was hardly helped by being stationed on the left-hand side of midfield as United looked to nullify Benfica's threat.
"We defended well and while that might be anti-Manchester United to think that way, it is not a crime," said Ferguson.
"We probably gave the ball away a bit too much in the first half and didn't open them up enough from midfield. But our counterattacking was excellent. Cristiano's pace means he is always an outlet and Louis took his chance really well."

Wenger mark 10 years with a win

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was happy to mark ten years at the club with tonight's 2-0 win over Porto.
Wenger said: "I think sometimes about how things have changed. This afternoon I listened to Tony Blair saying: '10 years ago we started' and I thought he was talking about me!
"He said how the world has changed and our world here has changed as well.
"These (surrounding at the Emirates Stadium) are concrete signs the club is going the right way.
"I don't feel a sense of pride at the moment - but one day when I am not here I want to be able to look back with a sense of pride.
"We want to continue to develop the club. Reaching the final last year has given us belief and frustration as well.

"We try to transform that frustration into more motivation. We were very, very close to the line.
"We have a young team and feel we can improve. The players that joined us are getting stronger and stronger. Players like William Gallas and Tomas Rosicky had great performances tonight."
But Gallas limped off at the end of the match with a hamstring injury and is set to miss Saturday's Barclays Premiership game at Charlton.
"It looked to me very serious but I hope it's not too bad," said Wenger.
"For Saturday we will be short and then I don't know if he will be available for the French national team."
Gallas played a key role in Arsenal's second, embarking on a clever run forward before squaring the ball to Henry who in turn teed up Hleb.
Henry scored with his head for the second game running and came into his own in the second half, as Arsenal bossed proceedings in their new HQ.
After a dodgy start at Ashburton Grove, Arsenal have now scored five times in two matches.
"Overall it was a great team performance against a strong Porto side," said Wenger.
"We feel it is getting better every game. The width is better, when we have to play counter-attack we do it, when we have to be patient we do it. The players are mastering the size of the pitch much better and we slowly feel at home here.
"Thierry doesn't only play to score goals. But to score 50 in Europe is a tremendous performance. The numbers don't lie.
"You will not find many players who have scored more goals in Europe than he has."
Porto coach Manuel Ferreira admitted his side failed to live with Arsenal's pace, especially after they fell behind to Henry's 38th-minute header.
"Arsenal are a team with the ability to change a game very quickly. Their play was really fast and we couldn't keep up.
"As soon as they scored the second goal I knew it would be much much harder. We tried to keep the ball but they were really on a roll.
"We had to stick to our own system. If we had got into playing Arsenal's way the result could have been much worse."

Saviola grateful to Rijkaard

Javier Saviola has thanked Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard for not freezing him out this season.

The Argentine striker played in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Valencia after a summer which saw Barca trying to find him a buyer.
"Most importantly for a player is to be able to count on the trainer and to have dialogue with him. With Rijkaard we always have said things up front, as much as good as bad things.
"He already knows how I think and how I play, knows what I can give. Only he and I know what the situation is with me.
"When I do not get selected, he always has a quiet word and gives me confidence to train hard."
On his cameo at the Nou Camp, Saviola added: "I felt great happiness. I never have felt like that before. The support of the public is something I will keep with me for the rest of my life."

The best 10 years for Raul

Real Madrid striker Raul says he's playing as well as he has been for ten years.
Coach Fabio Capello insists all Raul needs is a goal to spark his form, but the striker insists he's already playing as well as he ever has in a Real shirt.
"I believe that I have already found that spark, I believe that I have been far better than I have for ten years in that sense," said Raul.
"But even if I do score, I believe the debate and controversy around me will continue."
He added: "I am very calm and happy for being in Madrid."

Adriano hits out at fatty jibes

Adriano has hit out at fat taunts after returning to the Inter Milan first team in Sunday's 4-3 win over Chievo.
"My performance on Sunday was important, I know that I can improve and that I must work hard in training," said Adriano.
"Also my teammates see that I am straining day after day, they know that they can count on me.
"I'm fat? Look at the two goals I created on Sunday."
Adriano was reacting to Inter coach Sinisa Mihajlovic's claims last week that he was carrying too much extra weight.

Gilardino hits at snipers

AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino has hit back at critics over his slow start this season.
"Sincerely yes (the critics have been harsh), there is a habit to rush to judgment, to expect everything too soon," said Gilardino.
"This season, to start with, I have only played against Red Star and Lazio: little time in order to deserve this criticism. But this is football, I know it well and I accept it.
"It will not demoralize me when things do not go particularly well. I never have started a season in good form: also at Parma and the past year things had gone more or less in the same way."

Wenger believes in Beast

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has assured fans that new signing Julio Baptista will live up to his star billing this season.
Arsenal attacking midfielder Baptista, on loan from Real Madrid with a view to a permanent deal, has been restricted to cameo appearances so far this season.

And supporters have speculated he is yet another out-of-shape Brazilian.
His countryman Adriano was left out by Inter Milan this season for being overweight and Ronaldo looked to have piled on more than a few pounds at the World Cup.
Wenger will again leave Baptista, known as The Beast, on the bench for tonight's Champions League clash against Porto at the Emirates Stadium.
But the Frenchman insists Baptista, 25 this Sunday, is not out of condition - he has just not settled in to the speed of the English game.
Wenger admitted: "He has yet to adapt. It is more adaptation to the pace of the game and the movement here.
"Intelligence-wise he has no problem, quality-wise he is a big player. It is just adaptation. Some players take more, some take less.
"When you see his body he does not have fat at all but he is massive, he is like a boxer. He is muscular and is in the gym everyday.
"He looks after himself and takes care of his body. He is not overweight it is just the way it is."
Wenger still has high hopes for Baptista, a player he had tried to sign for a year, and is convinced he will come good.
The Frenchman added: "Once he is on a run nobody can stop him because he has that penetrative power.
"And he is a killer in front of goal. For me he is a central player but when he was at Real they had a congestion of players who could play central.
"But whatever they say about him at Real Madrid he scored seven goals having started 15 games. His scoring record is fairly impressive."

Rooney gets warning

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is set to be warned over his swearing during games.
The Sun says Rooney is back in trouble for a foul-mouthed tirade at referee Peter Walton.

The England ace appeared to shout 'Ref, that was a pen, you f****** cheating c***', after being denied a penalty during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Reading.
Now disciplinary chiefs will write to the fiery Manchester United striker this week warning him to improve his behaviour.
A similar tirade from Rooney in February 2005 forced the FA to change their rules to deal with players who swear at officials.
Then he repeatedly shouted 'F*** off' at referee Graham Poll during the 4-2 Premiership victory over Arsenal at Highbury, after earlier being booked.
Rooney, who has already served a three-match ban for a pre-season red card against Porto, still does not appear to have learned his lesson.
So the FA want to ensure he does not forget his obligations by writing to remind him of the new rules.
They will not pursue the matter any further, though, and have made it clear no disciplinary action will follow.
That is probably just as well for FA bosses.
Rooney has already threatened to withdraw from all future sponsorship work with England, after the FA refused to overturn his recent suspension.

Ronaldo got magic in his boots...Eusebio

Portuguese legend Eusebio says Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has "magic in his boots".
United face Benfica tonight in Lisbon and Eusebio said: "Ronaldo has magic in those boots. The first thing you notice about him is that he is incredibly quick and very, very powerful for such a young man.
"He has great close control and his technique is excellent.
"He believes he can do anything with the ball and that confidence makes him very special indeed."

Nolan hits winner

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan struck the winner in last night's 1-0 victory at high-flying Portsmouth.

Nolan brilliantly fired home from just outside the Pompey box after Linvoy Primus' headed clearance fell to him.
Pompey should have already been ahead, with Sol Campbell heading wide and Sean Davis side-footing against the post.
Benjani Mwaruwari twice shot wide from great openings either side of the break as Bolton held on to move up to sixth.
As well as denying Portsmouth the chance to go above Chelsea, they also succeeded in ruining Milan Mandaric's big night as the ex-chairman said goodbye after seven years at Fratton Park.
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp said afterwards: "It was a difficult night because their keeper made four great saves but we didn't get a break.
"I couldn't have asked for any more from them, they pummelled away and if we play like that we will be OK.
"We needed to stick a chance away before they scored and it may have opened up, but it wasn't to be. They hung in there and full credit to them."
Bolton boss Sam Allardyce also said: "It was a typical backs-to-the-wall performance from 11 very committed, determined players.
"We've been slightly missing that edge and tonight we didn't slip up. We stuck to the basics and they were terrific.
"Kevin Nolan's goal was fantastic, it was an outstanding hit and it turned the game in our favour. After that we protected our lead really well."

Mourinho assures Shevchenko place

Jose Mourinho has assured Andriy Shevchenko his Chelsea place is under no threat, despite his lack of goals.

Shevchenko has scored only once in six Premiership matches since his summer move from AC Milan.
The 29 year old has nonetheless been promised a place up front when Chelsea take on Levski Sofia in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Chelsea boss Mourinho said: "The goals will come. He knows I trust him.
"He doesn't have that pressure that the sword is waiting and if you don't score a goal you are out of the team.
"No, he is in the team again.
"He will score goals. He is such a top player in the world he has nothing to prove.
"If he is one, two or three months without scoring goals he is still one of the best strikers in the world."

McClaren open to Woodgate

England coach Steve McClaren has hinted that Jonathan Woodgate could be on the brink of an international call-up as he continues to rejuvenate his career at Middlesbrough.
The Real Madrid stopper has excelled during his short time on loan at The Riverside, and has even captained his home-town club under new boss Gareth Southgate.
"Jonathan has always been held in high regard throughout the game as a fantastic centre-half," McClaren told Sky Sports News.
"Unfortunate with injuries over the last few years but certainly he has got an opportunity to play again at Middlesbrough, in The Premier League, in the spotlight.

Despite media speculation and the loss of his starting place to new arrival Jose Reyes, Real insist that the former England Captain is happy to stay, and will begin talks over the length of a new contract.

Beckham's alleged loss of form has seen him removed from the England set up by the new coach and it has been rumoured that his importance for Real has diminished.

Johan Cruyff has declared Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o deserves to win the Ballon d'Or.
Eto'o has admitted he hopes to win the gong this season and Dutch great Cruyff backed the player last night: "Eto'o has shown enough to deserve the Ballon d'Or."
Cruyff saw Barca's 1-1 draw with Valencia last night at the Nou Camp, a game also attended by Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.

Seedorf clash with Ancelotti

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti's blow-up with midfielder Clarence Seedorf has been analysed in the local press.

The pitch side television cameras caught the exchange during yesterday's 0-0 draw at Livorno and it comes just a few days after a similar argument with Kaka.
"You have to play the ball quickly. You're too slow," said the Coach from the side of the field.
Seedorf responded: "Focus on Coaching. You can't just criticise. Instead of shouting, you might like to give us a hand from the bench."
Ancelotti was furious and answered the Dutchman. "And you focus on playing. You're lucky I've run out of substitutions, otherwise you'd be off."
The 0-0 draw at the Stadio Armando Picchi was Milan's first stalemate of the season, as they had won all three of their Serie A games and as many in the Champions League.
Nonetheless, reports of tension within the Rossoneri camp hit boiling point with this exchange and Ancelotti took his anger out on the media.
"I'm not angry about what happened, as it's between Seedorf and me. I won't explain it to you, otherwise it'll get turned into a soap opera like the Kaka discussion. If I'm angry it's because there's always a camera under my nose and getting on my nerves."

Premiership clubs on red alert after Beckham contract withdraw

Premiership clubs are keeping tabs on David Beckham's drawn out contract talks with Real Madrid.

The People says Beckham still commands huge commercial value to the club, but Real believe his worth will begin to fall over the next two years as he is relegated to a peripheral role in coach Fabio Capello's team.
A Real insider said: "Beckham is worth more to the club off the pitch than he is on it.
"But as he begins to spend more time on the bench there is also a feeling that his popularity will begin to fall.
"It's true that Real are ready to offer him the option to stay, but he must be prepared for some tough negotiations because he is no longer untouchable."
Beckham is free to speak to other clubs in January. He may want to clinch a more lucrative deal to stay in Madrid.
West Ham and Arsenal have been linked with the former England captain in recent weeks.

Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce fears his reputation has been tarnished by Panorama's bungs investigation.

BBC Panorama's covert investigation into football transfers alleged that both Allardyce and his son, Craig, were given bungs to facilitate player transfers. Both deny any wrongdoing.
Craig Allardyce has insisted since the BBC programme was broadcast on Tuesday that he exaggerated his own importance to an undercover reporter in order to attract opportunities.
And Trotters boss Allardyce told The People: "I don't know what damage it has done for me, but I don't think it will go on and on - I think things will be sorted out pretty quickly.
"I have done nothing wrong but things like this can stick, even if nothing is proved. It's hard to say what might happen on that score - I just have to concentrate on football and let my legal side look after that.
"I haven't been tempted to walk away, no way. That would have looked as if I was running away, so that has never entered my mind."

Arsenal, Man Utd battle for Camoranesi

Arsenal and Manchester United have moved for Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi.
The Argentine-born Italy international wants to leave Juve when the January market opens and while he is interesting Inter Milan, the only concrete offers to arrive have come from England.
Portsmouth and West Ham were represented at Juve's win last week against Crotone in which Camoranesi starred.
However, the News of the World says Arsenal and United are now battling for the all-purpose midfielder and are prepared to meet Juve's £7 million asking price.

Ronaldo glad Real stay

Ronaldo says he is delighted he stayed with Real Madrid this season.

The Brazilian ace, just turned 30, told Radio Marca: "The truth is that I am very calm right now, although there's still a lot to do.
"The sport part of Real Madrid never wanted to sell me - as did the president. Ramon Calderon left me in no doubt he wanted me to stay from the first moment we met.
"Only one person at the club, thinking about the economic aspect, wanted to sell me. I could not decide myself because I am a player of Real Madrid and I have two years left on my contract.
"It excited me to see that Milan and Inter wanted me.
"I did not negotiate with any club my exit and all those that asked me I sent to Real Madrid. I could not decide anything and my intention was to stay. And so it has been and I am happy to have stayed."

Cicinho out for 6 months

Real Madrid fullback Cicinho has been ruled out for six months after suffering knee ligament damage in last night's win at Real Betis.
Real doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez said this morning Cicinho could be out for between six and eight months, though more will be known after a scan.
If the injury is confirmed, Real could be granted permission by the Spanish Federation to sign a replacement player outside the transfer windows.

Guti the playmaker in Capello's heart

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello says midfielder Guti was the difference in last night's win at Real Betis.
Guti, who admitted before the start of the season of having doubts over his future under Capello, impressed in a midfield role and Capello said: "Guti can play. We can play with him there, with Guti placed in midfield because he can invent football.
"Everyone had a good game. Guti did very well technically. More than usual."

Ronaldo can be the best in the world...Queiroz

Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz says Cristiano Ronaldo can develop into the world's best player.

All eyes will be on the Portugal winger on Tuesday, when he heads back to his homeland to face Benfica, especially as his last appearance at the Stadium of Light ended in such disaster.
"When you deal with young players, it is not about telling them, or forcing them to do certain things," said Queiroz.
"It is about getting them to think about life, principles and values, teaching them to think for themselves and come up with the right answers.
"You want them to try to create the right balance between how they play, the things they say, the friends they have, everything around the game, on and off the pitch.
"With Cristiano I am always trying to create that special ambition and desire within him not to be one of the best players in the world but to be the best player in the world. He can do it, there is no doubt in my mind about that."
Given the maturity Ronaldo has shown in responding to the taunts of opposition crowds in the Premiership this season, Queiroz is not anticipating a repeat of the youngster's petulant behaviour on his previous visit to Lisbon.
On the contrary, he thinks the Madeira-born star can use Tuesday's game as an opportunity to correct a few things.
"In the few months since the World Cup, Cristiano has grown up and matured fantastically," he said.
"We won't speak about what happened against Benfica last season, we did that at the time.
"I think he realises this is a special opportunity for him to reverse what happened last season and leave the stadium in a correct manner.
"Cristiano has shown recently that he is not affected by mistakes, that he has a strong personality and can play with a lot of authority. I am sure he will do well."

Coleman bans ref from Fulham

Fulham boss Chris Coleman is convinced they deserved a penalty in yesterday's 2-0 defeat by Chelsea.

Coleman had no complaints about Chelsea's penalty but thought his team deserved one too after Petr Cech saved at the feet of Michael Brown.
The ball spilled out and Cech grabbed Brown's foot to stop him reaching it but referee Mark Halsey gave a free-kick to Chelsea for the challenge on the goalkeeper.
Coleman said: "I asked Mark about it after the game and he said he had to protect the keeper.
"Why should the keeper be protected more than anybody else? It's a 50-50 challenge.
"Petr Cech knows it's a penalty because he grabs Michael. If he thought he had a free-kick he wouldn't have done it.
"I could not believe the decision. I've seen it 10 times on the slow-mo. It's a 50-50 ball and he lost it."
Coleman thought his team could have had another penalty, when the score was 2-0 for a foul by Didier Drogba.
The Fulham boss added: "It's not Chelsea's fault. They are a great team and great champions.
"It's Mark Halsey's fault. I'm disappointed with him. It's not the first time.
"When we played Arsenal two years ago he killed us. He's a decent referee Mark Halsey but he's not decent when he comes to us.
"We were terrific for 70 minutes. Our attitude was superb. It killed when three decisions went against us.
"I had to calm the lads down in the dressing room because they weren't very happy. But there you go, no points."
Coleman claims he will ask the Football Association not to send Halsey to Craven Cottage again.
He said: "I will ask not to have Mark Halsey again. I will ask because there's always a bit of controversy when Mark comes to the Cottage.
"I'll ask and we'll probably have him in another six weeks' time."
